Photoshop Live – Live Retouch Prank

I tend to post things that amuse and impress me – of course! This does both. I just love the bemusement when they first realise what is happening.

I can only imagine their busses were really late or the guy in the van had a quicker machine than mine!

Chip Shop Awards 2013 – Sensitive Tooth Man

The Ministry of Sound last night hosted the tenth Chip Shop Awards, an event I look forward to hearing about (not that I have been to.)

It’s all tongue in cheek and I think it’s a chance to let your hair down and dive into some serious creative deviance. Often there is a serious message but often it’s naughty, topical and sometimes downright shocking. This year there was a ‘Best use of Jimmy Saville’ category!

This gem won the Chairman’s Award, and my award (for what it’s worth!)

Check out some of the winners here

(I stole the disclaimer below – just to let you know what you may be about to see)

Disclaimer – It should be assumed The Chip Shop Award entries do not reflect the views, policies or strategies of any organisation living or dead. In fact it has mostly been created without the knowledge of those the work purports to either promote or parody.

The Girl and The Fox

Ok, so I’ve been feeling grumpy – then I saw this and my heart melted…

The Girl and the Fox

’60 Second Adventures In Thought

I’m feeling a little smug this morning after watching these fab films from The Open University!

What a bonus, I  learnt something during my post breakfast procrastinations for a change!

Saul Bass would have been 92 yesterday…

Another hero of mine – looking back at some of my animation work, I can see very clear references to his. I wish I had met him!

“I want everything we do to be beautiful. I don’t give a damn whether the client understands that that’s worth anything, or that the client thinks it’s worth anything, or whether it is worth anything. It’s worth it to me. It’s the way I want to live my life. I want to make beautiful things, even if nobody cares.” ~Saul Bass

Now, if any clients are reading this – I’m not necessarily agreeing with the not giving a damn bit, but I understand the meaning in this statement. I want to make beautiful things too!

One of my favourite title sequences he did below for It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World:

and I found this gem, Sale Of Manhattan, on YouTube:

St Patricks Day Genius from Guinness.

‘Now they have to be careful at the Indian takeaway – they might lose the big lad!’

I’m just retrieving my lunch from my keyboard after that line!

Perhaps I should move away from my mac whilst eating!

Naughty but nice…..?

I saw this earlier today and I’m still chuckling about it now – just had to share it. Superb viral video!

Collapsing Cooling Towers! Scared? Not me!

What is it about cooling towers that is so blooming fascinating? The enormity of the things? The slightly scary purpose? Or the moustache??

I love love love this film…..

Happy New Year!

Here’s to a brand new year and resolutions and hopes and dreams!

I have a small list of achievable goals I fully intend to realise in the next few weeks / months – but seeing this video made me think of the big one!

For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to be the very best at something….. anything ??? Watch this video (while you can as it is apparently being taken off YouTube due to copyright issues!)

How wonderful would it be to find that one thing you are better than anyone else at… regardless of what it is!

I’m going on a hunt for mine.

You Muppet!

The Muppets Film Trailer

Oh come on! If that didn’t raise a smile or even a giggle then you need to have a word with yourself.

I’ve edited 6 corporate videos today (OK – so they were short ones!) But it’s a sunny Sunday when I should really have been doing something more fun with my family…..

However, for a few minutes we all watched the new Muppets trailer and all had a laugh. For me, its nostalgic, for the kids, magic!

Cracking Google Doodle

I love keeping an eye on Google for the latest doodles. I can imagine there are a crack team of researchers, animators and illustrators, waiting in the wings to get their work seen by millions, the creative world at their feet! Their latest is a simple homage to Freddie Mercury who would have been turning 65 – love it!

The Ark

If you fancy 8 minutes of beautiful heartbreak – then look no further. Utterly stunning piece of animation.

Good Grief Beyonce!

Look at this……

Beyonce - Run the World (Girls)

….again, the music isn’t my cuppa tea, but blimey I adore the real-time graphics. I bet we’ll see a lot more of this style of interactive graphics from now on!

We are full steam ahead with our Hippotizer training, for Boiling Frog The Musical, incorporating our own ideas for real-time motion graphics on stage.

(perhaps Beyonce’s was also done with the Hippotizer!!)

So no pressure then! *gulp*

Talent vs Technology

Please watch this video…

How fantastic is it?

I wasn’t a massive fan of Bruno Mars (I am now!) but this video had me enthralled. There is a cut (Did you spot it?) but it looks to be done almost seamlessly and the sheer talent is evident.

It appears to me that a great idea and a healthy dose of talent can trump technology!

We didn’t do this – but I wish we had!

I happened to find this film last week, at a crucial moment when I was about to see a client. Deliriously tired and strung out from a manic month this film struck a chord with me and I will watch it again and again.
